Dennis W. De Cuir, A Law Corporation and Porter Simon, A Professional Corporation affiliated as of counsel in 2009. Dennis has been in practice since 1971. In the 1980s he was a member of McDonough, Holland & Allen, where founder Martin McDonough introduced him to water and electric power law. In 1990 Dennis and Stuart Somach founded De Cuir & Somach to practice water and power law. In 2000 Dennis formed his own law corporation in Roseville, which is an hour and 15 minutes from Truckee on a good day.

Dennis has engaged in almost every aspect of energy law, from the development of major electrical generation and inter-regional extra-high voltage transmission facilities to the acquisition of property through the courts in eminent domain proceedings. He has negotiated several large transactions involving the purchase and sale of power plant and transmission assets. He has also regularly litigated cases in the state and federal courts. Currently Dennis spends a considerable amount of time in the renewable resource field.

Dennis and his wife Dianne, a third grade teacher, raised their two daughters in Roseville. They spent significant time at their North Lake Tahoe cabin introducing the girls to the mountain sports. A law and history graduate of Santa Clara University, Dennis is also a 1,100 hour instrument rated private pilot.

Dennis has earned the highest rating, AV, awarded by the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell organization. This rating is reserved for attorneys whose legal skills are judged to be "very high" to "pre-eminent," and whose ethical standards are "very high.". He is also listed among the Best Lawyers in America in the field of Energy Law.
