Of Counsel Profile: Joseph W. Tillson
Joe Tillson joined the firm as of counsel in 2009. He is licensed to practice law in California and is a certified specialist by the California State Bar's Board of Specialization in estate planning, trust and probate law. Joe has been actively practicing law since 1976. He opened his first law office in San Francisco. He and his family moved to South Lake Tahoe, California in September 1978 where he has been in private practice ever since.
Joe went to undergrad at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California and graduated in 1968 in economics. He received his law degree from Lincoln Law School in 1975. After being admitted to the California bar, he graduated from Golden Gate University with a masters degree in taxation.
Joe and JoAnn Tillson were married in Elko, Nevada on June 27, 1970. They have three boys, Matt, Kevin and Mike and two grandchildren, Cooper and Colin. JoAnn is also his legal assistant. Joe and his family are avid San Francisco Giants and 49'er fans.
Since moving to Lake Tahoe in 1978, Joe and JoAnn have been actively involved with the community. Joe is currently the president of the Tahoe Heritage Foundation and is on the Lake Tahoe Community College and the Tahoe Senior Plaza board of directors. He is also a member of the St. Theresa's Knights of Columbus Council. JoAnn is active with the Soroptomist Club, and Bread and Broth, as well as other community organizations.
