Steve Lieberman has practiced business and real estate law since 1969. Prior to 1975, he practiced in Washington, D.C., in the general and international business departments of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, a large national law firm. Steve relocated his practice to Truckee in 1975. In 1994, he joined Porter Simon to serve as lead business and technology attorney.
As a sophisticated business transaction lawyer, Steve's knowledge of real estate, agency, business and brokerage law consistently proves to be an invaluable asset to the firm’s business and real estate clients and to the litigation team. Steve currently represents local and international business clients, real estate developers, the local Board of REALTORS® and public entities. He has served as a director on the boards of technology companies and owns and manages an international business involved in specialty construction contracting services for highway departments and the ski resort business.
Steve is past president of the Truckee Sunrise Rotary Club and the Tahoe-Truckee Bar Association. He has served as an arbitrator and Judge Pro Tem for the Placer and Nevada county superior courts. Steve was the 1996 Tahoe-Truckee Bar Association "Attorney of the Year."
Steve was an active professional ski patrolman for 25 years, trained in avalanche control and search and rescue operations. As a volunteer firefighter and certified Emergency Medical Technician, since 1979 he has served as a chief officer of the Donner Summit Fire Department and is currently a Battalion Chief with the Truckee Fire Protection District. He and his wife Tamara have three adult children, all of whom live in the area. His passions, aside from his family, are fire service and ski patrol, skiing, whitewater rafting, and gourmet cooking.
Fluent in French, Steve was born in Switzerland and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in 1963. Steve received his law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, in 1968. He is admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, and before the United States Supreme Court.
